Hardwood Floor Refinishing

The key to beauty and durability of a successful hardwood floor sanding begins with proper sanding techniques coupled with a highly efficient Dust Containment System. The primary finish of choice is a urethane finish, a surface finish, which means that it sits on the surface of the floor and does not penetrate into the wood. To achieve the maximum performance and longevity of a good urethane finish, it is essential to have a smooth surface. To achieve this surface, proper sanding techniques must be followed. Cutting corners by skipping grits or sequences will speed up completion but will shorten the life and have a negative impact to the overall look of the finished floor.

One of the first steps in floor sanding is to flatten the floor and then subsequent sanding steps are required to remove previous sanding sequence scratches. Each step should be with a finer grit than the previous grit used. This ultimately will result in a smooth surface with no visible scratches leading to a finish application that will showcase the natural beauty of your hardwood floors and add protection unequaled in the industry.

Our sanding and finishing process has earned Greenguard Certification for indoor air quality beginning with the industry’s newest, “State of the Art” Dust Containment System, which is connected to each of our floor sanding machines. What this means for our clients is a clean home, a lack of airborne dust to contaminate the finish and a healthy floor professional.

There are exact and precise industry standards outlining proper sanding techniques. Our commitment is to meet or exceed all industry guidelines and/or standards through participation in continuing education, an integral part of our mission. This enables us to keep up with all of the latest techniques, materials and equipment and you, our client, the ultimate beneficiary.

Our trim work, shoemolding, reducers, thresholds etc are done with full attention to quality craftsmanship, not the quick, unattractive installation that is so common.

GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified®

All Wood Floorcrafts products are GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® as well as certified for GREENGUARD’s more stringent Children and Schools Program.

GREENGUARD is a non-profit, third party organization that tests indoor products for their environmental impact in an effort to improve the air quality consumers breathe.

GREENGUARD Environmental Institute is an industry-independent, non-profit organization that establishes standards and testing for indoor products. Its goal is to improve public health by helping manufacturers build safer, better products. These products will not pollute the air with harmful levels of dangerous chemicals or particulates.

GREENGUARD Children & Schools Product Certification Program focuses on low-emitting building materials, furnishings, and finish systems used in education environments (daycares and K-12). It evaluates the sensitive nature of school populations and unique building characteristics, for the most stringent product emissions criteria to date. Products certified under GREENGUARD Children & Schools use two criteria for low-emitting materials: the U.S. Green Building Commission's (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system for schools, and the Collaborative for High Performance Schools' (CHPS) Best Practices Manual.
